Community Index
The population of Wollaston Lake is approximately 800 people, one quarter of whom are members of the Lac La Hache Indian Band. The other smaller numbers are of non-Status Indians and Metis people.

Employment is through existing government jobs, transportation, communications, trades and services, construction as well as Band employment in the Band office or schools. Approximately 75% rely on traditional methods of hunting, fishing and guiding for other means of income. There are also some people who are employed by the mining companies.

Community facilities include a co-op store serving grocery dry goods, and fuel, post office, air strip, theatre, Band office, Northern Settlement Office, two pool rooms, two community halls, two charter air companies, two schools offering nursery to grade twelve, a health clinic, an RCMP detachment office.

The ties with La Ronge are facilitated by an all-weather road between the two (Highway 105). Although the road terminates on the opposite side of Wollaston Lake, the community is accessible by winter road when the lake is frozen and is reached by barge when it is not.

Medical services are provided by regular doctor visits from La Ronge.
